Dental clinic in Anjou: +11% loyal patients for major treatments
A dental clinic in Anjou wanted to be seen across the whole island. We focused its efforts on its own neighborhood, where the patients who come back actually live.
For a neighborhood clinic, the right target is the area patients come back from for care, far more than the most-searched query.
The context
The clinic is located in Anjou, in the east end of Montréal. When it handed me its SEO in September 2025, it was aiming for one specific query: “dentiste Montréal” (dentist Montréal).
The challenge
That query puts the clinic in competition with every dentist on the island. Even if it climbed the rankings, it would mostly have attracted people living too far away to come back. Yet a clinic thrives on loyal patients, the ones who trust it with major treatments after a first appointment.
My approach
I brought the strategy back to the scale of Anjou and the surrounding neighborhoods, through four workstreams:
- technical improvements to the site;
- an analysis of patient reviews, to understand what drives their decisions;
- a redesign of the hub page, which directs visitors to each treatment;
- dedicated service pages for each treatment.
The result
The regular patient base grew by 11%, driven by people coming back for major care beyond the annual checkup. This figure combines three sources: phone and email clicks tracked in Google Tag Manager, direction requests on the Google Business Profile listing, and a quantitative study carried out by the front desk.
What this case shows
Choosing the target comes before any optimization. I apply this principle in every SEO consultant engagement, especially for businesses whose clients come from a specific area.
This choice of target is also what sets serious work apart from agencies that promise first place on every query.
Next case study: a roofer who became the go-to name for sloped roofs.
